The AUTOGAS ARROW
World Record Holding Hydroplane.
The Autogas Arrow, running a supercharged, LP Gas powered 7.2 litre Chev engine that developed 800 bhp, set the World Alternate Fuel Water Speed Record at 182.9 km/h in 1986. A record that still stands to-day.
The 5.8 metre XR2 Special ‘pickle fork’ hull was designed in Australia and has an innovative deck design which allows the boat, at high speeds, to become heavier on the front sponsons. This give the boat a negative lift.
LP Gas Carburetion is by 2 off OHG x-450 Mixers on 4 bbl throttle bodies, sitting atop a special water cooled 672 Mooneyham Superchargerdriven by a ˝" powergrip blower drive.
The boat was designed and driven by Kevin Hickling of Sydney, Australia.
